Conversations with a Shaman
In 1993 I traveled to Santa Fe, New Mexico with a dear friend for a healing session with a local shaman.
He had come highly recommended.
My sole purpose in going was to discuss a romantic relationship that I had hoped would lead to marriage...
Within the first 15 minutes of my 2 hour session it became clear that the "man of my dreams " was not.
The next 1 hour and 45 minutes of chanting, drumming and various other rituals revealed that, unbeknown to me, I was an artist.
Coming completely out of left field, this information had me regretting the trip and admonishing myself for foolishly trusting a "psychic".
Upon my return, my friend suggested I buy a painting starter kit and give it a try.
Well...in the beginning days and weeks I painted a lot of small, black pieces of paper.
I soon discovered that I loved metallic paints and that I had an eye for color.
Today, my paintings are large, abstract and vibrant. Painting is the vehicle I use to express my creativity, resulting in beautiful, meditative works of art...exactly as the shaman had said.
